Did they change the formulation? A lot of them newer videos make it seem much deeper!. Looking for a nice cyan ink

I love mine. Sort of a first time user. I did use fountain pens back in the 90s but didn’t understand them and they always seemed rough to me. This is nice and smooth and great for my sort of first time getting back into them.

How does this ink shade compare with deep sea green faber castell? I wanted to buy deep sea green but it's way too costly. What's the next most similar ink ?

This vs Pilot Custom 845?

I find the term “blind cap” confusing. I have pens with blind caps where you have to remove the cap to get to the control knob. That is the case here.

I actually hate iroshizuku. I love my Diamine and J. Herbin.

I like waterman inks because they are easy to clean and flows smoothly through my Lamy Lx and most important that they are very affordable in my country

i remember that i've bought this ink in the morning from the stationary shop, about 7 am. i was going to have an exam in the school. i was stunned when i tested it. yes, i was testing this ink, where i should better prepare for the exam :D i've been using it for about 6 months and very nice ink. i use it as a default writing ink. my former ink was the classic pelikan 4001 königsblau, and this ink is relatively more condensed. It has a slight reddish sheen which is sometimes annoying, because if your cap seals poorly, then first 3 letters become brown. maybe it is more expensive in the us, but in the europe and nearby countries, it is possible to buy it about 5$.

totally agree with you about the colour: Pelikan seems to pretty much nail it with their colour palette, königsblau (royal blue) dunkelgrün (dark green) and black are all great too (sorry, not a fan of turquoise no matter who makes it!); just to give you a heads up: I inked mine in a Pilot78g+ with an EF nib and it did have a tendency to hard start which may be a consequence of it’s iron gall component, but it’s such a pleasing blue/black I’m almost tempted to overlook this slight flaw; thanks for this:)

Wish Opus 88 made their pens in more sober patterns, I love them but I can't go around signing stuff with flowery tubes filled with inks lol.

Yes the 30ml does have a small opening and is not as stable as most ink bottles. All the more reason to use a blunt ink syringe.

What's does the number on the bottom of Parker ink means? It has a number on the middle of the bottom.

The Jinhao x159 lacks the wonderful huge threaded cartridge converter of their x9019, but its grip is significantly less girthy. That makes it more comfortable in my hand. Replacement Jinhao #8 nibs fitting the x159 and the 9019 are inexpensive and readily available, for example on Amazon, so if your nib is defective or you want an EF, F or M replacement in whatever metal color, you have that option. The pen is reliable, well-sealed from drying out, well-balanced and has a reasonable heft. For the price especially, this is a great writing or drawing pen. You can take it along and not worry about the cost of loss.

I like Writers Blood more than Oxblood…more even than Red Dragon.

Interesting review. I have the Pilot black and Pilot Blue. These are great, everyday inks that do what it says on the bottle.

If you think it’s good value in the USA/Canada it’s silly money here in the UK. I CAN GET 2 or 3 bottles for the price of a coffee. Pocket money prices!

Despite the incredible spectrum of colors, sheens, shimmers, and flows out there in the ink world, Parker's Quink remains my all-time favorite ink. It's reliable, and does wonders for every fountain pen! Smoothness and generous flow personified.

Question please? With an 80 mil bottle of WB, do you suggest rolling/tilting the bottle or gently shaking it or not shaking or stirring? I suppose I could just ask “shaken, or stirred.” Thanks for suggestions on this.

I am between this Optima and Pilot Custom 845. Opinions, please?

My two favorite gray inks and an extra for a lighter shade: 1. Noodler’s Lexington Gray. A dark, transparent gray which is absolutely waterproof and has archive-level permanence when dry. It is also well-behaved in pens, flowing well, drying quickly, and not spreading or bleeding as some other “bulletproof” inks do. It retains its properties when diluted to lighter shades with water and can be used in a waterbrush. My number one sketching ink, but dark and smooth enough for good writing too. And not expensive and available in economy-sized bottles. CAUTION: watch out for the way a new bottle of Noodler’s ink is filled to the very brim; you may want to use an ink syringe or suck directly into the cartridge converter until the level is lower. 2. Monteverde Smoke Noir. A lovely smooth-writing deep gray that looks almost black but is less harsh. Behaves very well in fountain pens and on papers. Interesting behavior with water- only partly lifted by a quick swipe of a water-filled brush, giving a soft wash effect with original lines still visible on at least some papers. Extra: Pilot Iroshizuku Kiri Same (“Misty Rain”). This is a much lighter shade of gray, in my opinion too light for regular writing - though still readable and suitable for some special uses. Like the other Iroshizuku inks, it is very well behaved in fountain pens and on papers and comes in a wonderful glass bottle with a deep dimple inside on the bottom. The gray is an interesting shade, lively for a gray, with hints of warmth, perhaps a bit of subtle peach undertone. This is a good choice for someone who wants a lighter gray. It’s mostly lifted by water, but a bit of the original lines remains.

Ink…isn’t…inking

I end up with my thumb in the centre of the Lamy and hand to the right of the centre to write neatly and have good ink flow with my handwriting. When I hold it where the grip is the ink skips and doesn’t flow right. I wish it was possible to change the rotation of the grip.

I have quink to test out fountain pens or to tune them as it's one of the mest performing inks. Sure nhe color is lame but it's excellent for vintage pens. This ink is alse great for newcomers into the fountain pen world.

My favorite of the Sweet Life series is Blue Velvet Cake. It’s much darker and is less green, though still a bit green -leaning. I like Iced Cookie but I like Blue Velvet Cake more.
